Ireland start Six Nations with a muted boom

Have to say I’m dissapointed with Ireland’s start to the six nations tournament. The Italians are generally depicted as the walkovers of the competition and there was a question mark very much looming over Eddie’s squad but while the team started in flying form cracks started to show 20 minutes in with silly mistakes being made. Ireland should’ve beaten them by much more, sloppy play and at times a referee that went against both teams made it a slow and painful game to watch.
Eoin Reddan played a stormer and looks promising for the future of Eddie’s men but i feel we rely too much on the boot of O’Gara. The god that is Brian O’Driscoll didn’t turn on the magic and i feel stayed out of the game a bit too much.
If O’Gara hadn’t been on the field or having a bad day, we would’ve been looking at the first game, first defeat of the Six Nations.
Ireland 16 - 11 Italy
